I've amassed quite a large collection of vintage craft books ranging from the 1930s to the 1980s, and every time I look through them I'm reminded how full of inspiration they are.
So I've decided to go through and start sharing projects from them, with instructions. I'll try and pick something special once a week, it would be rude not to really!
First up a very simple one from Good Housekeeping Patchwork and Appliqué (1981)

I love this contemporary version of the classic schoolhouse block. And stripes going two ways is one of my favourite things visually.
These instructions are quite basic, but you get the idea. The block can be scaled up or down in size depending on how you want the finished result to look.

Don't forget to check out my shop - I'm very inspired by patchwork and it plays a big part in the clothes I make from found materials...
