This beautiful cotton or fine linen tablecloth with exquisite appliqué details came with matching set of napkins - always an exciting find because the smaller scale of the napkins is perfect for cutting out pockets and collars.
Dating from the 1930s, judging from the stylised baskets of flowers, which remind me of Sonia Delaunay's floral designs, the intricate hand stitches on this appliqué have to be seen to be believed. I also love the fine blue lines running through the cloth.
I positioned two flowers on the collar and another on the pocket and finished the shirt with side splits and found shell buttons.
Roughly a size M (an easy-fitting UK12ish) - please see measurements in the dropdown menu.
As ever, this one-off piece was lovingly made by me entirely from not-new materials
