Floral embroidered tapestry vest

Featuring some of the most beautiful embroidery I've ever seen! Someone had put a huge amount of time and work into this hand stitching (back in the 70s I imagine), but it had gone to waste on a weirdly misshapen garment. Which of course I was delighted to get my hands on! 

After unpicking the binding and removing the lining, I could see the stunning embroidery in tapestry wool had been worked into a green wool blanket base. The floral design flows so organically across the garment it must have been stitched freestyle.

I shortened, made darts, and reshaped the outline, replacing the binding and adding a tie. I absolutely love the finished result and I’m so happy to have been able to rescue this amazing piece of handiwork.

Will fit a variety of sizes due to the tie front and spacious armholes, so I'm calling this a free size - please see the measurements in the dropdown menu to check how it will fit you.

As ever, this one-off garment was lovingly made by me entirely from not-new materials.
