Striped recycled tablecloth shirt
Striped recycled tablecloth shirt
Medium-weight, short-sleeved shirt made from a found 70s striped tablecloth in pleasing shades of deep blue, purple and grey. I love these colours, especially contrasted with the off-white shell buttons and top stitching.
Actually I've had a thing about purple with navy blue ever since I discovered the French 70s craft magazine 100 Idées which often teams the two colours to dazzling effect. I even wrote a blog post about it!
Suffice to say I was very happy to find this vintage slubby cotton tablecloth which I knew would make a great asymmetrically symmetrical shirt. With the two large patch pockets, it lends itself to being worn undone with a sweater underneath, as well as buttoned up in the usual shirt fashion.
As ever, this one-off piece was lovingly handmade by me entirely from not-new materials.
